The New Hope-Solebury Lions will square off against the William Tennent Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
New Hope-Solebury barely beat Cheltenham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Mabel Klossner and Dagny Mobley made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Klossner struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Mobley tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Klossner has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Klossner went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Mobley went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Klossner also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Maya Patel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Isabella Elizondo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
New Hope-Solebury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, William Tennent entered their tilt with Lower Moreland on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lions 9-2.
New Hope-Solebury has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for William Tennent, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
New Hope-Solebury suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to William Tennent in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
