The South Effingham Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 70-30 victory over Evans on the road. That looming 70-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Effingham yet this season.
Elena Hairston continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Johanson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Evans saw an underclassman step up: Kimariya Hinton scored four points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. Hinton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
South Effingham's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Evans, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Glynn Academy the next time they take the court. South Effingham will head out to face Glynn Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Evans will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
