The Jones Trojans will be playing at home against the Rockport-Fulton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Jones took their match at home with ease, bagging a 45-14 win over Floresville. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-0.
Jones can attribute much of their success to Darion Perez, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Perez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Ryne Espinoza was another key contributor, rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Rockport-Fulton can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They took their match against Pleasanton 36-28.
Among those leading the charge was Sean Howell, who rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Garcia, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
Jones' win pushed their record up to 5-1, while Rockport-Fulton's bumped their own up to the opposite: 1-5.
Jones was able to grind out a solid win over Rockport-Fulton in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 42-32. Does Jones have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rockport-Fulton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
