After flying high against the Donna North Chiefs on Tuesday, the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Edcouch-Elsa took a serious blow against Harlingen South on Friday, falling 36-8. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Edcouch-Elsa has scored all season.
Harlingen South found their leader in underclassman Jiselle Montemayor, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The game was Montemayor's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Miller, who scored 11 points.
Edcouch-Elsa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Harlingen South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Edcouch-Elsa will be home for the holidays to greet Porter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Porter is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Harlingen South, they will head out on the road to face off against Donna North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Donna North has struggled recently with 17 defeats in a row, while Harlingen South will arrive with five straight victories.
