Softball Recap: Central Kitsap Wins Going Away Against Mount Tahoma

While Central Kitsap didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Mount Tahoma T-Birds on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the T-Birds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kaylie Stacy made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stacy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Coral Howell looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Day, who fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Mabe, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Central Kitsap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Central Kitsap pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Tahoma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Central Kitsap didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 loss against Kentridge on the 25th. As for Mount Tahoma, they will challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
