The Lincoln Cardinals were the 46-39 winner over the Tipton Cardinals when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lincoln received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 60-45 to Tipton. While losing is never fun, Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Tipton is ranked 188th).
Tipton was led to victory by Jackson Bailey and Zach Moon. Bailey scored 19 points, while Moon scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dane Schlotzhauer, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Lincoln has fallen quite a ways from their 29-1 record last season and are now at 4-10. As for Tipton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Lincoln will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Warsaw at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Warsaw and four for Lincoln. Tipton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Weaubleau at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Weaubleau is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
