The Snow Canyon Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-44 to Riverton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Snow Canyon has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Snow Canyon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drey Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Kelsch, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Ben Barrus, who scored 19 points for Riverton. Another player making a difference was Zach Edwards, who scored four points along with three steals.
Snow Canyon's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for Riverton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Snow Canyon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elko at 5:15 p.m. on December 27th. Riverton will be home for the holidays to greet Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Highland is ranked 16th, while Riverton is ranked 11th).
