Softball Recap: Ferris Has No Trouble Against Life Waxahachie

Ferris won the last time they faced Life Waxahachie and things went their way on Saturday too. Ferris put the hurt on Life Waxahachie with a sharp 19-3 win. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Landri Davis made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Valorie Carrillo was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Isabella Beltran was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Ferris hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Ferris' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Life Waxahachie, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Ferris will head out on the road to square off against Venus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Life Waxahachie, they will be playing at home against Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Life Waxahachie will need to watch out since Hillsboro has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
