After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Skyview, the Adams City Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 57-52 win over Thornton. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Adams City also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Adams City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Hernandez, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Hernandez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Thornton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adrianna Villalpando. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Villalpando scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Julionna Sandoval, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Adams City's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Adams City will be playing at home against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Thornton, they will head out on the road to face off against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Gateway is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
