The Franklin County Rebels will head out to challenge the Giles County Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Franklin County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Marion County on Monday. The Rebels put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on three straight.
Isabella Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Victoria Nelson and Kyleigh DeCamp did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while DeCamp went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave DeCamp a new career-high. Addison Partin was another key player, earning one RBI and two runs.
Franklin County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Giles County had taken Lawrence County down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Caydee Pipkins put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Pipkins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Pipkins wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josylan Tate, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Giles County's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Franklin County, their record is now 13-11.
Franklin County got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Giles County by a conclusive 14-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
