The Morris Redskins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 74-61 victory over Yorkville Christian. Given Morris' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Mustangs are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Yorkville Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielle Bulson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Bulson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Wallin, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Morris and bumps their season record up to 18-9. As for Yorkville Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morris will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilmington is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Yorkville Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
