Everything went their way against Edgewood on Tuesday as Morningside Academy made off with a 68-47 win. Given Morningside Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Edgewood is ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morningside Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Bell, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 0 assists. The contest was Bell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Damon Folds was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine assists.
Morningside Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Edgewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morningside Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome West Melbourne Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th. Edgewood will be home for the holidays to greet Odyssey Charter School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
