Ridgecroft and Halifax Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2017, but not for long. The Rams will take on the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ridgecroft will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Pungo Christian Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
While Ridgecroft might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Pungo Christian Academy scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Halifax Academy made easy work of The Oakwood School on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win.
The final score came out to 25-5, 25-10, 25-18.
Halifax Academy's win came from a few key players Ridgecroft will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Karson Ricks, who had ten aces and three digs. Those ten aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessa Pope, who had six aces and three digs.
Halifax Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive contests.
Ridgecroft's record now sits at 15-6. As for Halifax Academy, their record is now 15-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Ridgecroft has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 15.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Halifax Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 15.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ridgecroft suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Halifax Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
