South View (Hope Mills, N.C.) saw its 17-point lead dwindle to three, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Riverside (Durham, N.C.) 20-17 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Jeremy Cox touchdown run in the first quarter, the Tigers led 13-0 at the half.
South View saw its 13-point halftime lead fall to 10 entering the fourth.
Cox and Stats ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Pirates. Cox scored two touchdowns on the ground and Stats added three as well.
SV came in allowing an average of 19.0 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Riverside defeated Northern 41-16 last week. The loss ended Riverside's three-game winning streak.
