The Knott County Central Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Martin County Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Knott County Central sitting on five straight victories and the Cardinals on three.
Even though Wolfe County scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Knott County Central still came out on top. Knott County Central strolled past the Wolves with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given Knott County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Wolves are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Tug Valley scored an imposing 66 points on Saturday, Martin County still came out on top. Martin County walked away with a 78-66 victory over the Panthers.
Knott County Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Martin County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Knott County Central came up short against the Cardinals in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 54-48. Can Knott County Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
