The Upperman Bees will take on the DeKalb County Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Upperman came up short against Clinton County and fell 4-1.
Upperman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Wilken, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Eva Mathis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, DeKalb County never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on White County with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kora Kilgore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Bryna Pelham and Zayleigh Bain did most of the damage at the plate: Pelham went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Bain went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Pelham a new career-high. Tatum Young was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
DeKalb County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive games.
DeKalb County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Upperman, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
