Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Bear Grass Charter Bears proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cape Hatteras by a score of 48-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bear Grass Charter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bear Grass Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carolina Harrell, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harrell has scored all season. Hylee (Al) Jarrett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Despite the defeat, Cape Hatteras had strong showings from Paizley Schultz, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Kylie Philips, who scored 12 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Schultz scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Bryan, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Bear Grass Charter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Cape Hatteras, they bumped their record down to 7-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Bear Grass Charter will challenge Ocracoke at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ocracoke is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Cape Hatteras, they will be playing at home against Mattamuskeet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mattamuskeet comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
