Liberty had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 30-26 win over the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 8-6 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.
Frankie Marez was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 109 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 143 yards and one TD on only nine passes. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 60 yards. 109 of Marez's passing yards were hauled in by Cade Carter, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Liberty's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Grayson Weeks with two.
