It was a good run, but the Smiths Station Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 70-51 bruising from Auburn. Smiths Station found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 21% worse than the opposition.
Despite the loss, Smiths Station still got an impressive performance from Tasha Judkins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Malaya Crowell, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Syriah Daniels continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Auburn, dropping a triple-double on 38 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. The matchup was Daniels' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Hallman, who scored ten points along with seven steals.
Smiths Station's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-1. As for Auburn, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smiths Station will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Central is ranked 50th, while Smiths Station is ranked 64th). As for Auburn, they will be playing at home against Opelika at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Opelika is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
