Western's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laila Lwaba, who scored 13 points along with nine steals. Lwaba is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyra Pace, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Green Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gianessa Vazquez. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points.
Western's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Green Valley, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western will face off against Cimarron-Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cimarron-Memorial is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Green Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
