Chatfield hasn't had much luck against Caledonia recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gophers will host the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Chatfield has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Chatfield managed to slip by Lake City the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Gophers lost 17-10 to the Tigers on Monday. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Gophers' highest-scoring contest to date.
Meanwhile, Caledonia made easy work of Wabasha-Kellogg on Thursday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.
Landon O'Heron and Will Allen were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, O'Heron tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Allen struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Caledonia is undefeated when O'Heron allows two or fewer hits, but 1-3 otherwise. At the plate, O'Heron went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Allen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrett Konz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jack Schmitz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Caledonia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Caledonia picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Chatfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Chatfield might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Caledonia in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Gophers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
