The Lake City Panthers pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Scott's Branch. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (55), Lake City still had to take the loss.
Lake City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blayne Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Dallas Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.
Scott's Branch can attribute much of their success to Jordan Kind, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nyren Bowman, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Lake City now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Scott's Branch, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake City will take on Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Atlantic Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Lake City likes a good challenge. As for Scott's Branch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manning at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
