Westfield is 0-10 against Spring since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. Westfield will be playing at home against Spring at 5:00 p.m. Westfield has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Westfield and Eisenhower meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Westfield came up short against Eisenhower, falling 19-7.
Jazmine Leal led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Thomas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Leal wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Westfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Spring waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Mikayla Zepeda looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hailey Jones-Calais, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jordan Harrold, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Spring's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Westfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Westfield suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Spring in their previous meeting back in February. Will Westfield have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
