The Lamar County Trojans can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Mary Persons with a sharp 70-49 win. Winning may never get old, but Lamar County sure is getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Lamar County was led to victory by Zakiria Foster and Shakiria Foster. Foster scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Foster scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Foster is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Wilcher, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mary Persons' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jataria Hardy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hardy has scored all season. Zoey Shannon was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Lamar County's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Mary Persons, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4.
Lamar County will take on Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crawford County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Lamar County is ranked 80th). As for Mary Persons, they will head out on the road to challenge Upson-Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upson-Lee is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
