San Diego is 2-8 against Santa Gertrudis Academy since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. The San Diego Vaqueros will look to defend their home field  against the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions  at 7:00  p.m. San Diego is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6  runs per game  this season.
Last Thursday, San Diego got the win against Odem  by a conclusive  11-5. The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive  victory against them.
 Brian Ramirez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. What's more,  he gave up only zero  earned runs, the fewest he's  had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

 In other batting news,  Jayden Lozano was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one  home run, four  RBI,  and one  stolen base. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  RBI.  Jake Salinas was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing  Five bases. while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 San Diego  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Santa Gertrudis Academy beat Lyford 7-3  on Saturday.
 The team  relied heavily on  Nico Garcia, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-4. He also put up a  triple, which was his first of the season.
 San Diego pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  San Diego has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Santa Gertrudis Academy, though, as  they've  only  averaged .357. Will they be able to contain San Diego's hitters?
 San Diego might still be hurting after the  6-0 loss they got from Santa Gertrudis Academy  when the teams last played  back in April of 2024. Can San Diego avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
