Wichita County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Sublette Larks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wichita County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Wichita County struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Dighton had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wichita County suffered a rough 59-33 defeat at the hands of Dighton. Wichita County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.
Despite their defeat, Wichita County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Colton Harbin, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonardo Alvarado, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Sublette earned a 53-44 victory over Southwestern Heights on Tuesday.
Wichita County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Sublette, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Wichita County was dealt a bruising 67-39 defeat at the hands of Sublette when the teams last played back in January. Can Wichita County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
