On Friday, the Douglas County West Falcon ended up a good deal behind the York Dukes and lost  48-33. While losing is never fun, the Falcon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings  (they are ranked 134th, while the Dukes are ranked 22nd).

 Douglas County West's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Ella Wiese, who  posted nine points. What's more,  Wiese also posted a 60%  shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's  posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Addison Strong, who  scored nine  points in addition to six  boards and three  steals.
 York had a senior duo take command as  Lainey Portwine  went 5 of 9  on her way to 13 points along with eight  rebounds and five  steals and  Chloe Koch  had 11  points. Thanks to that strong game,  Koch now owns an excellent 45.3%  field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kinslee Kern, who  put up five points in addition to five  assists and five  boards.
Douglas County West's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for York, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  on the road.
 Coming up, Douglas County West will take on Conestoga at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Douglas County West is facing Conestoga at the right time seeing as Conestoga is stuck on  a  five-game losing streak. As for York, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  59-31  victory against Lakeview on the 8th.
