Section 3 Class C - North recap October 8, 2013
Thousand Islands scaled the state rankings by moving to 446 from 493 this week, the biggest jump in Section 3 Class C - North. The Vikings were able to move up by besting Altmar-Parish-Williamstown 13-12.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Immaculate Heart Central beat Bishop Grimes 51-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Immaculate Heart Central's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cole Carpenter threw for 62 and 2 touchdowns and Jude Whalen had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Marra contributed 106 yards. Miles Sexton helped Immaculate Heart Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Marra provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Paul Alteri's team topped the Cobras. Marra's favorite target this week was Whalen, who caught 2 passes for 31 yards.
Marra was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 6 carries, he ran for 106 yards as the Cavaliers defeated Bishop Grimes. Teammate Jordan Trudeau added to the ground attack by rushing for 93 yards.
Immaculate Heart Central's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carpenter has thrown for 715 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Nick Koelmel has 19 catches for 231 yards.
An important game coming up in Section 3 Class C - North this week will be when Lowville takes on General Brown. As it stands, the Red Raiders are in third, while the Lions are in second.
Immaculate Heart Central took down the Cobras 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Carpenter in the win.
