2A District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Commerce extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Hulbert, 49-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Commerce led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Riders. Blake Jameson threw for 102 yards and three touchdowns and ran for seven yards in the win.
Beau Kibel was the best wideout in the league this week as Quapaw lost to Colcord. Kibel racked up three receptions for 112 yards. Tyler Bacon helped Quapaw's passing attack out by catching four balls for 48 yards.
Trenton Barr was the most productive running back in 2A District 8 this week. He ran for 118 yards on 14 carries as Steve Moss' team fell to the Hornets. Teammate DC Chance added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.
Seth Brumley provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Quapaw fell to Colcord. He completed 10 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 21 yards.
Brad Homer's team's Brumley and Bacon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brumley has thrown for 1188 yards this season, while Bacon, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 43 catches for 660 yards. The Tigers' Parker Morgan leads the league in rushing yards with 773.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Terrill Denny's team takes on Kansas. As it stands, the Hornets are in third, while the Comets are in second.
