Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail six more threes than your opponent, a fact the Gilbert Christian Knights proved on Thursday. They secured a 60-54 W over Florence. Given Gilbert Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Florence is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gilbert Christian was led to victory by Lopemi. Omole and Keon Talgo. Omole dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Talgo scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Talgo has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lucero, who scored four points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Florence's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Stenson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Adrian Taufaasau who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Stenson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Darren Swain, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
