Given Seventy-First's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Hoke County is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mylon Campbell, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Dowdy-Isom, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Hoke County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylen Sturdivant. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. The matchup was Sturdivant's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Salah Sutton, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Seventy-First pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Hoke County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.
