The Monrovia Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Temple City Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Monrovia will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating La Canada, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Spartans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Spartans since March 5, 2024.

Carly Polanco made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Myers, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Monrovia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Canada struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Temple City waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 18-8 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.
Like Monrovia, Temple City also got a great game from a two-way player: Lexi Garcia. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Temple City got a massive performance out of Zoe Grimaldi, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Grimaldi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Marino, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
The victory got Temple City back to even at 9-9. As for Monrovia, their record is now 14-8-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monrovia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Temple City struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monrovia got the 'W' in their previous matchup on April 7th against Temple City by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
