For the first time this season, Chaparral will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Douglas County Huskies at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Chaparral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Chaparral barely beat Bear Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines blew past the Bears 19-1 on Saturday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Tommy Humphrey looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Kayne Morris was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Madden Kretzer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Chaparral hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Creek struck out eight times.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Douglas County and Rocky Mountain, and Rocky Mountain kept the tradition alive. The Huskies fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 5-3 last Thursday. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Evan Clarke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits.
At the plate, Douglas County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Morey, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Chaparral's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Everything went Chaparral's way against Douglas County in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Chaparral made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
