Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Piles Up the Points Against Arvada

Arrupe Jesuit won the last time they faced Arvada and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Arrupe Jesuit Generals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Arvada Bulldogs 75-29. That 46 point margin sets a new team best for the Generals this season.

Leading Arrupe Jesuit to victory were Mario Cabrera and David Diaz. Cabrera went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and five assists, while Diaz went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Diaz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Dyson, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Arrupe Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arvada only posted one assist.

When it comes to explaining why Arvada lost, don't look at Deymian Than. Despite the final result, he had 12 points.

Arrupe Jesuit's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Arvada, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arrupe Jesuit will head out to face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arvada, they and Platte Canyon will meet in a canine-themed contest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Platte Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
