Basketball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Sublette Larks

For the first time this season, Stanton County will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Sublette Larks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sublette will be up against a hot Stanton County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Trojans blew past Walsh 62-24 on Tuesday. With the Trojans ahead 38-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Stanton County had a senior duo take command as David Crane went 8-for-13 en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals and Gerardo Robles shot 53% from the field on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. Crane's big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Ian Floyd was another key player, putting up six points.

Stanton County was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walsh only posted two.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Sublette on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Elkhart out of the water with a 69-29 final score. The Larks haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Sublette's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Stanton County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Stanton County beat Sublette 68-60 in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Larks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
