The Independence Patriots extended their postseason success on Friday against the East Forsyth Eagles. They secured a 34-28 W over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Independence.
Jayden Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 208 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Independence also got help from Vontrez Burch who showed off his sure hands for 131 receiving yards.
East Forsyth's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brandon Sutton, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and Bryce Baker who threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Baker is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played.
Independence is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for East Forsyth, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Watauga at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. East Forsyth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
