On Saturday, the Butler Bears faced the Sacred Heart Valkyries in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Butler took a serious blow against Sacred Heart, falling 55-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Butler has scored all season.
ZaKiyah Johnson was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds for Sacred Heart. Claire Russell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Butler has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
Butler will be playing in front of their home fans against Nelson County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sacred Heart, they will head out on the road to square off against Christian Academy-Louisville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Academy-Louisville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Sacred Heart is ranked sixth).
