The Pickens Blue Flame's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Easley, falling 85-37. Pickens found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 15 fewer assists than your opponent.
Pickens' loss came despite strong showings from Brooks Dow and Gavin Mock. Dow scored 14 points, while Mock scored seven points.
Pickens struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Easley found their leader in underclassman Drey Jackson, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. Ethan Crews was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Pickens has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Easley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.
Pickens will be playing at home against the Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 games -- so hopefully the Blue Flame like a good challenge. As for Easley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
