MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Greely Rangers have officially been named to the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its fifth year honoring girls soccer.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the MaxPreps National Rankings. For soccer, only 20 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 34,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Rangers ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
Greely dominated this season and secured the No. 1 seed in the Class B State Tournament bracket earning itself a first-round
bye. The Rangers had an impressive playoff run defeating Lincoln (7-0), Yarmouth (2-1) and
York (5-1) to make their way to the state championship game.
The Greely Rangers took home the 2015 Maine Class B state title on Nov. 7 after a 6-0 shutout win over the previously undefeated Hermon Hawks at the Fitzpatrick Stadium. Thirteen years in the making, the Rangers earned their fourth girl's soccer title in school history with previous titles in 1994, 2000 and 2002.
With their 17-2 season, the team was not only ranked 19th nationally, but they also finished ranked No. 1 in Class B and No. 1 in Maine.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Greely Rangers an invitation to the 5th Annual Soccer Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the Rangers team, head coach Josh Muscadin, students and fans on Friday, Dec. 11 at 1:00 p.m. during the pep rally in the gym.
