Lancaster is 0-3 against Airport since April of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Bruins will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Lancaster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Lancaster is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of York. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bruins have suffered since April 2nd.
Lancaster saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameryn Cauthen, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Airport). They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over Ridge Spring-Monetta on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Ingram made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ingram was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ariana Feliciano was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie McCracken, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
Airport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win was the third in a row for Airport, bringing their record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lancaster hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Airport struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
