North Ridgeville had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They never let the Bay Rockets get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Daniel Lowe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matches. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other pitching news, Ben Chinchar looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Gannon Padgett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominic Iezzi, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
North Ridgeville's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Coming up, North Ridgeville will take on Berea-Midpark at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Bay, they will be playing at home against Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
