Inter-Valley recap September 24, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Strasburg-Franklin, who defeated 555th ranked Newcomerstown, 18-15.
Sandy Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 499 from 561 this week, the biggest jump in Inter-Valley. The Cardinals climbed the ranks as a result of beating East Canton 26-7.
Lucas Dieffenbaugher was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 154 yards on 27 carries as Sandy Valley bested the Hornets. Nate Shepler also contributed to the rushing game with 47 yards on the ground.
Wagner was the best wideout in the league this week as Zach Gardner's team bested East Canton. Wagner tallied 2 receptions for 70 yards.
Austin Zufelt put up the best numbers in passing as the Trojans lost to the Tigers. He finished with 9 completions for 119 yards. Zufelt's favorite target this week was Jibril Dansby, who caught 3 passes for 48 yards.
Dieffenbaugher provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cardinals beat Steve Miller's team.
6-foot-0 quarterback Dieffenbaugher of Sandy Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 335. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cody Hall. The Newcomerstown star has 11 catches for 169 yards.
An important game coming up in Inter-Valley this week will be when Ridgewood takes on Strasburg-Franklin. The Generals are in fourth place, while Jimm Morris' team is in first place.
Malvern was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. The Hornets vanquished Tuscarawas Central Catholic 44-35 earlier in the week.
