If the Cook Hornets were feeling good off their 76-41 takedown of the Berrien Rebels last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cook took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Worth County. Cook was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Worth County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reshauld Tippins, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tippins pulled down eight or more rebounds. Keshun McKever was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Cook's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Worth County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cook won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jeff Davis at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Jeff Davis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Cook likes a good challenge. As for Worth County, they will head out on the road to face off against Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumter County has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
