Meanwhile, Scarborough fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Marshwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Hawks.
Asa Howe spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Scarborough saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Rice, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Scarborough, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
Scarborough's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Westbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Scarborough, though, as they've only averaged .317. Will they be able to contain Westbrook's hitters?
Westbrook might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Scarborough when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Blazes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
