The Midd-West Mustangs will head out to take on the Danville Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Midd-West has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Wednesday, Midd-West earned a 16-13 victory over Milton. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Black Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kyle Shupp was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. Midd-West is 3-1 when Shupp posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Derek Wert also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Danville entered their tilt with Central Columbia on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Bluejays. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ironmen have posted against the Bluejays since May 18, 2018.
Wyatt Shultz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shultz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, James Ciccarelli looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Hoffman, who earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lincoln Diehl was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Danville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Danville pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Midd-West, their record now sits at 4-6.
Midd-West suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Danville when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
