District 10 Region 2 A recap Oct. 23, 2012
Mercyhurst Prep extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 2 A this week by beating Iroquois, 49-21. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Eisenhower made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,214 from 8,647. The advance stemmed from a 55-0 victory over Union City last week.
Cochranton's dynamic duo of Chad Eisenhooth and Jesse Staudt proved tough for Youngsville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eisenhooth threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns and Staudt had 73 yards receiving. AJ Nageotte helped Cochranton's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.
Garrett Palmer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mercyhurst Prep topped the Braves. The 6-foot-2 senior pulled down one interception.
Justyn Roda was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 171 yards on 20 carries as Iroquois bested the Eagles. Alex Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Eisenhooth of Cochranton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1178. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Matt Morgan's team's Cornelius Barclay has rushed for 1295 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nathan O'Brien. The Eisenhower star has 23 catches for 526 yards.
A big matchup in District 10 Region 2 A this week will be when Cambridge Springs takes on the Lakers. As it stands, the Devils are in fifth, while Mercyhurst Prep is in first.
The Knights led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Bears. Aaron Lundmark threw for 63 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 16 yards in the win.
