The Liberty Common Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Prospect Ridge Academy on the road and fell 78-44. Liberty Common found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty Common lost, one person who can't be blamed is Max Frevert. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Pierce Richardson, who scored 12 points.
Liberty Common struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Prospect Ridge Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Liam Schilling led the charge by scoring 23 points. The matchup was Schilling's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Brandt, who scored 16 points.
Liberty Common's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Common will take on Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Regis Groff at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Regis Groff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Prospect Ridge Academy is ranked 127th).
