The Clymer Central Pirates won the last time they faced the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds, and things went their way on Friday too. Clymer Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over the Thunderbirds. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Clymer Central.
Clymer Central was led to victory by Kaden Beckerink and Jonathan Massing. Beckerink scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Massing scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Beckerink posted two or more blocks. Kameron Einink was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Clymer Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Chautauqua Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clymer Central will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Panama knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 games -- so hopefully the Pirates like a good challenge. As for Chautauqua Lake, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lancers at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. General McLane is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
