League recap: Sheehan dominating on the mound for St. Elizabeth

Freelance league recap: 5/22/13

St. Elizabeth's Matthew Sheehan was the best pitcher in Freelance this week. He won one game and struck out nine batters.

St. Mark's outpaced the rest of the league this week, as its three total wins led the league. The Spartans beat Cape Henlopen 11-1, Sussex Central 11-1 and the Golden Knights 11-1.

The Vikings' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only one hit and one walk, both of which led the league.

David Mctaggart, who sits at the top of the league with a .491 batting average, finished the week at a blistering .750 clip for St. Elizabeth.

The Vikings' Sheehan led the league in strikeouts this week with nine. With 30 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks third in the league.

Sheehan threw a shutout as he led St. Elizabeth to victory over Seaford, 11-0, on Friday. He struck out nine, allowing one hit.
