Meanwhile, Mio-Au Sable made easy work of Oscoda on Thursday and carried off a 15-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbolts, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Beckett Champagne was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Champagne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Fox, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, five runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brock Stewert, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI and one triple.
Mio-Au Sable always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Alcona's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Mio-Au Sable, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alcona has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Mio-Au Sable struggles in that department as they've averaged .559. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
